Lord of the Rings Literature Study

This year-long middle school literature course is condensed into a single semester for advanced readers. Many G3 students are gifted readers who are seeking acceleration, so this class often enrolls elementary students who are ready to ready to read and discuss The Lord of the Rings as literature.

This course is appropriate for strong readers who have some experience with literary analysis. This course reviews all of the literary analysis skills from LL7 and LL8, and adds new terms and skills as well. Minimal writing skills are required. Some students may wish to take this course after LL7 and LL8 to continue their literature studies. However, some older students who have limited experience with literary analysis may begin their G3 literature journey here.
