The Uncharted Territory six-week workshops help students develop their reading, writing, and thinking skills while pondering and discussing the big ideas that our twelve-and-up students find so compelling. Each workshop explores a different section of Jim Burke’s reader, Uncharted Territory. In each workshop, students will examine essays, short stories, and poems that center around a single relatable theme: education, freedom, success, identity, decisions, credo, power or relationships. Students will explore the literary and rhetorical techniques of the readings, discuss the content of the material, and create their own piece of writing on the topic of the workshop.
The theme of this workshop changes each semester, allowing students to retake this workshop as often as desired.  The theme for Spring 2023 Session 1 is Identity. The theme for Spring 2023 Session 2 is Decisions.
