Documentaries allow filmmakers to artistically present information, experiences, and viewpoints in a narrative structure with a particular message. Often these films educate and motive audiences to advocate for a cause or group, make different personal choices, and influence policy and laws. This class will cover 5 documentaries and examine filmmaking styles, the legitimacy of presented material, outside influences which motivated each filmmaker, and the positive or negative consequences of each film. All films are available on Amazon and Netflix.
Webinars are 50 minutes long. Recordings are available for students who must miss a session or for repeated viewings to provide extra practice and understanding.
